DELRAY BEACH, Fla. - Investigators don't suspect foul play after an 81-year-old man was found dead in a Delray Beach pond on Monday night.
At about 10:05 p.m., Palm Beach County sheriff's deputies responded to the Colonial Inn Assisted Living Home located on Sims Road regarding a missing man who suffered from dementia.
The man, identified as Romano Pinggera, was last seen by staff at 8:45 p.m.
Deputies said they searched all rooms at the facility for Pinggera, but he was not located.
Deputies began to search outside and located Pinggera floating in a pond located on the grounds of the assisted living facility.
The body was removed and Pinggera was pronounced dead at 11:30 p.m.
Investigators believe the man wandered out of the building and staggered into the pond.
