DELRAY BEACH, Fla. - After months of debate, the City of Delray Beach finally reached a decision about whether or not to pay former Delray Beach City Manager Louie Chapman.
City officials were forced to make this decision following an incident involving Chapman and a lack of bids for trash services for the city.
Delray Beach City officials say they will pay Chapman 20 weeks worth of his salary and a portion of his pension.
"I support the changes....and I'd like to not see this on the agenda again," said Delray Beach Mayor Cary Glickman.
But everyone wasn't happy with the decision.
Vice-Mayor Shelly Petrolia says she did not agree with paying Chapman any severance.
"I don't see the purpose of paying him off...I think we are bending over backward and giving him what he wants."
