DELRAY BEACH, Fla. - For the next week and a half, Delray Beach residents may notice a chlorine odor and taste in their tap water.
Officials said it is all part of a routine disinfecting process that will last until May 5.
The city says this will not affect residents’ health, but there are a few things to be aware of:
* People with kidney dialysis machines may experience problems with their equipment
* The water may be toxic to your fish or other aquariums in your home.
* Some lower water pressure in your shower starting Saturday morning
Delray Beach water customers will see flowing water in the streets as the city starts to flush out area fire hydrants. There is no need to call the city if you see this happening.
The city advises residents not to do their laundry until this flushing process is complete.
Officials said this process will ensure that the city's drinking water remains safe and compliant with all state and federal water quality requirements.
