DELRAY BEACH, Fla. - It's a technology that can capture startling images and transport the courtroom back to the scene.
The Delray Beach Police Department is asking commissioners Tuesday for $350,000 to purchase 68 new dash cams.
Currently, 10 of the department's 150 squad cruisers have dash cams. Officers also want to upgrade to a wireless network so the video could be uploaded to the department more rapidly.
Officers say the tool helps to provide evidence in drunk driving cases.
The Delray Beach City Commission will decide whether to approve or reject the request for dash cams at their meeting Tuesday.
