Delray Beach crash kills woman, injures driver

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. - Police in Delray Beach are asking for the public's help as they continue to investigate a fatal crash that occurred Sunday night.

At about 11:09 p.m., officers responded to a wreck at Old Germantown Road and Hampton Bridge Road, which killed the passenger in a car and critically injured the driver.

Investigators believe a gray Fiat was traveling west on Old Germantown Road at a high rate of speed.   As the car attempted to cross the Hampton Bridge, the driver lost control and struck a concrete wall.

The car then continued to travel west, rolled and struck a tree, according to a news release from Sgt. Nicole Guerriero with the Delray Beach Police Department.

The driver and the passenger were ejected from the car.

The passenger, Amanda Patterson, died at the scene as a result of her injuries. The driver was transported to Delray Medical Center where he remains in critical condition.
