DELRAY BEACH, Fla. - Police in Delray Beach arrested a woman after two parents were injured crossing a street with their children Sunday evening.
Investigators said the family of four was crossing the street at Gleason Street and East Atlantic Avenue when a car drove through a red traffic light, striking the couple.
The two small children were not hurt, but the parents sustained injuries as a result of the crash.
The driver, later identified as Cassandra Grammel, fled from the scene, according to police.
The parents were transported to Delray Medical Center, and the children were turned over to family members.
Grammel was located and arrested on charges of driving under the influence and leaving the scene of a crash with injuries.
Police said neither parent suffered life-threatening injuries. The mother was released from the hospital Sunday night and the father sustained a serious injury to his leg.
