Jacobo Dorcely: Young man drowns while swimming off Hammock Park

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - A swimmer who was the subject of a massive search Wednesday evening off Hammock Park in Boynton Beach has died, said Eric Davis, spokesman for Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

The young man, identified by family members as Jacobo Dorcely, was pronounced dead at Bethesda Hospital East where he had been taken after being found in the water about an hour after he went under the waves, Davis said.

A multi-agency effort was employed to find Dorcely after receiving a 9-1-1 call that he was missing off Boynton Inlet Park, said Captain Albert Borroto, spokesman for Palm Beach County Fire Rescue.

The young man was swimming with two other males at Hammock Park when he went under the water and did not surface, said Teri Barbera, spokeswoman for Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Emergency crews from Palm Beach County Fire Rescue, Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, Ocean Ridge Police Department, U.S. Coast Guard and Boynton Beach Fire Rescue assisted in the search.
