Teen swimmer missing near Boynton Beach Inlet

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - The Coast Guard has joined the search for a teen who went missing while swimming Sunday night near the Boynton Beach Inlet.

The boy, Sebastian Francois, 15, was last seen at 7:45 p.m. about 10 feet north of the inlet, according to family and friends.

The teen, who was visiting from Haiti, was reportedly swimming with relatives when he slipped from sight and did not resurface.

Officials believe Francois unknowingly stepped into a drop off created by an underwater pump and was unable to swim well enough to stay afloat.

Boat crews from the Coast Guard's Lake Worth station and a helicopter crew from Miami are taking part in the search.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office helicopter will also patrol the area sporadically.
