Suspicious item found in Boynton Beach is an old radio

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - UPDATE: Police determined the suspicious item is an old radio.

Boynton Beach police are investigating a suspicious item that was found in a car on Southeast 7th Avenue.

The vehicle is at a towing company, according to police.

The object is wrapped in plastic.

"A photograph of the item was taken by someone who works at this tow company and that photo was then texted to someone and it was texted to someone else who actually works for PBSO's bomb squad," said Boynton Beach Police Department spokeswoman Stephanie Slater.

As a precaution people are being kept away from the scene and the bomb squad was called.

So far no nearby homes have been evacuated.

Investigators are now trying to figure out what the object is.
