Residents in South Florida three communities were reporting their bicycles being stolen for more than two months.
Last week, Boynton Beach police detectives identified the man responsible for the bike thefts.
Steven Thomas Grmyek, 45, told police he stole the bicycles and sold them to a drug dealer to support his crack cocaine addiction.
Grmyek is currently being held in the Palm Beach County Jail on charges stemming from dealing in stolen property in another city.
Today, detectives will file 17 felony burglary and grand theft charges against him.
Police say there were 14 bicycles stolen from parking garages in the Las Ventanas, Casa Costa and Marine Village communities between Dec. 1, 2013 and Feb. 13, 2014.
Gmyrek confessed to stealing nine of the bikes.
He told detectives he would slip into the secure area of the parking garages after a car would enter or exit.
Once at the bike rack, he would remove the chain or lock on the bicycle with a pair of bolt cutters.
Then he would ride the bicycle out the same way he did when he entered, after a car entered or exited.
Gmyrek says he would immediately sell the bike for drug money.
