BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - A suspect sought in a domestic violence case sped away from officers going 100 mph on Interstate 95 Wednesday, according to the Boynton Beach police.
Just before 1 p.m., officers were called to a home because there was a disturbance involving a gun.
The woman at the home says a man, identified as Shavis Johnson, was threatening to kill her and another resident.
When Boynton Beach police arrived at the home, officers said Johnson left the home, got on I-95 and headed north at more than 100 mph.
One officer broke off his pursuit at 10th Avenue while a second continued to follow Johnson.
Police said Johnson got off the interstate and hit two vehicles on the exit ramp as he tried to squeeze between them.
Investigators said Johnson then fled on foot toward a Days Inn Motel located on 45th Street in West Palm Beach.
He was caught in the motel parking lot.
Police have charged him with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, fleeing to elude police, battery and resisting arrest.
Johnson has been arrested and booked into the Palm Beach County Jail.
