Robbery suspects lead police on high speed chase

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - Boynton Beach Police are charging Adam Jalane, 22, of Boca Raton, with armed robbery and fleeing and eluding following an alleged robbery of a Boynton Beach Wendy's.

The police department says they were on-alert following a string of robberies at fast food restaurants around the county.

They say the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office put out a notice to watch for the suspect car, and that they  were keeping an eye on the Wendy's at Woolbright Road and Federal Highway when they saw it drive up at around 8 p.m.

They say Jalane showed a gun and robbed the Wendy's, while another suspect got away.

Jalane then allegedly led police on a high speed chase east on Woolbright then up A1A.

The chase lasted around 2.5 miles when the Chevrolet Avalanche Jalane was driving smacked into a light pole on a tight turn.

The driver was not seriously injured.

He was taken into custody, as police continued to search for the second suspect.

Florida Power and Light briefly inspected the pole on Monday night.
