Pedestrian hit by driver on northbound center lane of I-95 in Boynton Beach

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - A pedestrian was hospitalized Saturday morning after being hit by a driver suspected of drinking on the northbound lanes of Interstate 95 south of Woolbright Road in Boynton Beach, according to Lt. Tim Frith, spokesman for the Florida Highway Patrol.

Around 6 a.m. Road Rangers and a Boynton Beach police officer responded to a single-vehicle accident on the northbound lanes of I-95. They blocked the center lane by cones, and activated lights and flares to warn drivers of the blocked lanes.

Glenda Teresa Molina Segura of Plantation, Florida, drove a 2006 Chrysler 300 through the cones and flares and struck Tonye Dwayne Bowens of Lake Park, who was walking inside the lane closure. Segura also struck one of two Road Ranger trucks on scene before coming to a stop.

Bowens was taken to Delray Medical Center in serious condition.

Segura's blood was tested and she was charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DUI) and driving with expired license. She was taken to the Palm Beach County Jail.
