UPDATE:
The injured pedestrian was identified as Douglas Gemmer, 57, of Boynton Beach. Investigators determined that Gemmer crossed Congress Avenue in the path of a Toyota Yaris heading northbound.
Boynton Beach spokeswoman Stephanie Slater said Gemmer did not use the crosswalk. He is in stable condition at Delray Medical Center.
All northbound lanes of Congress Avenue reopened around 8:30 p.m. Monday.
EARLIER STORY:
The northbound lanes of Congress Avenue from Boynton Beach Boulevard to Old Boynton Road are shut down due to a pedestrian accident.
Officials say the male pedestrian was struck by a Toyota Yaris and taken to Delray Medical Center in critical condition.
The driver was not injured in the accident.
Traffic Homicide Investigators are on the scene.
The northbound lanes of Congress Avenue will be closed for several hours. Motorists should seek alternate routes
