Outpouring of community support for 89 year old woman allegedly conned by phony contractor

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - Grace Modugno's phone has not stopped ringing after Boynton Beach police spread the word that a suspected phony contractor ripped her off.

She was left without a kitchen and is out $11,000.

"I don't see how people can do that and just leave a lady hanging," Keith McKinney said.

McKinney owns McKinney Brothers Cabinets and showed up Modugno's door offering to help on Friday.

"Now it is just a matter of getting materials and getting going," McKinney said.

Police urge anyone who wants to help Grace to first contact the city's development office at 561-742-6350.

"The response from the community has been absolutely overwhelming," Stephanie Slater with Boynton Beach Police said.

Charges are pending against the suspect Daniel Kovatch.
