Old high school to get new life

Plans to renovate old Boynton high school

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - Boynton Beach's city commission is moving forward in its effort to renovate the historic high school that's just across the street from city hall.

The two-story building hasn't been used in over a decade.

At Tuesday night's city commission meeting, architecture firm IBI told city commissioners that they've already had interest from investors.

One would lease it out for office space, but an arts group says it would be perfect for a gallery.

The architects say they have a plan that could make the $6 million dollar redevelopment almost-free to city taxpayers.

City commissioners have not made a final decision on what to do with the high school that was first built in the 1920s.
