Jerry Thomas charged with breaking in and threatening an ex-girlfriend in her home

PBSO: SWAT team standoff ends peacefully

SUBURBAN BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - A long standoff in the Venetian Isles subdivision ended early Thursday morning with the arrest of Jerry Walter Thomas, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office says that deputies were called to the area in unincorporated Boynton Beach by a resident who feared that her ex-boyfriend was in her home.

She told deputies that she feared for her life.

Deputies say that when they arrived they found Thomas inside the home even though they say he was not given permission to be there.

Thomas, according to PBSO, had a gun and was threatening to shoot himself.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office SWAT team was called in and after hours of negotiations they were able to take Thomas into custody without incident.

Thomas was arrested and charged with armed burglary to an occupied dwelling.
