Is it worth it?: How much the Best Buy line leader saves per hour on Black Friday purchase

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - Vada Frevert started the Black Friday line at a Boynton Beach Best Buy at 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

She says the deals enticed her.

"If it wasn't worth it to me, I wouldn't be here," she said.

Frevert's camping for more than four days on the concrete sidewalk out front and keeping her eye on the prize. She wants to buy a 40-inch Toshiba flat screen TV for $180 and two $350 Samsung laptops in the wee hours of Friday.

If Frevert buys the items she's eyeing at the listed prices, she's looking at spending $880, before taxes. She'll be saving $690, according to Best Buy's website.

Frevert will have spent 102 hours waiting for these deals. By our calculations, she's saving about $6.75 an hour.

Frevert is a registered nurse, but she's not working at the moment. She hopes to return to patient care after the holidays.

"I know if I decided to work, that I'd make a lot more money that I'll save for the week that I've spent here, but it's been fun. I don't regret it," she said.

Frevert says she has nothing to lose; and besides, she enjoys the camping and meeting new people, "and being with my son and doing something you normally don't do. I mean, who does this sort of thing?" she asked.

Frevert is hoping last minute sales drive the prices down even more, as Black Friday draws closer.
