BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - Grace Modugno, 89, can hardly believe she has a new kitchen in her Boynton Beach condo.
"When I came and saw this, I was so surprised. I couldn't believe how beautiful it looked," Modugno said.
Boynton Beach police said Modugno was scammed out of nearly $11,000 and left with no money and no kitchen in May.
Police say unlicensed contractor Daniel Kovatch took her money and disappeared.
"I felt bad for her getting ripped off. I go behind unlicensed guys all the time and fix their stuff for people," Billy Estor with Sea Tite Plumbing said.
Estor and a group of other contractors replaced Modugno's kitchen with new cabinets and granite countertops.
"I just can't say enough about them. I didn't know good people like this existed," Modugno said.
Boynton Beach police have not arrested Kovath, but say this is still a very active investigation.
