The Delray Beach community is celebrating a life cut too short. Courtney McGriff would have turned 30 today.

A Delray Beach police spokeswoman says officers found McGriff shot to death in his home Tuesday.

Today, friends and family members celebrated his birthday by releasing balloons into the air and holding a candlelight memorial service. They met at Johnson Memorial Chapel in Boynton Beach, where McGriff worked.

He owned a funeral escort and procession business and frequently worked with the Johnson Memorial Chapel.

One friend and coworker says they worked together Saturday. He remembers McGriff for his jovial attitude and as a guy who could see the positive side of anything.

The police spokesperson says detectives have not arrested anyone, or released details about a possible suspect.

The community continues to look for answers and hopes memorial services like tonight's keep McGriff's death in the spotlight.

"We're trusting in God, hoping justice comes, hoping to find out who's behind the whole situation to give the family peace," explains Karey Isom, Sr, a coworker.
