BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. -- Police in Boynton Beach are investigating an animal cruelty case after a decapitated kitten was found Wednesday at Sara Sims Park.

Police responded to the park at 8:30 a.m. and spoke with a woman who said she discovered the deceased cat while walking through the park.

According to the police report, the kitten was a 6-week old grey/white cat.

Its body was found in the middle of the sidewalk, approximately 20 feet to the southwest of the bathrooms.

Police say the kitten's head was cleanly sliced from its body, and the responding officer suspects a machete was used to kill, and possibly torture, the cat.

Police say this is a case of Felony Cruelty To Animals.  At this time they do not have any suspects.
