West Palm Beach man dies early Saturday when his car is rear-ended on I-95 near Boynton Beach

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - A West Palm Beach man died, and two others were injured, in a two-car collision early Saturday morning on I-95 south of Woolbright Road in Boynton Beach .

Brian C. Newcomer, 27, died when the 2009 Honda Accord he was driving was rear-ended around 4:30 a.m. by a 2008 Suzuki SX4 driven by Jeffrey R. Kreiling, of Ft. Lauderdale, according to Lt. Jeffrey Johnson, of the Florida Highway Patrol.

Kreiling and Jessica A. Janik, a passenger in the Honda, were taken to Delray Medical Center and are expected to recover.

Palm Beach County Animal Rescue was called to care for a dog that was in the Suzuki.

According to investigators, the Honda ran out of gas and came to a stop in the right center southbound lane of I-95 when Kreiling drove around a curve in the road and struck the stalled car from the rear. Newcomer had already called Road Rangers when the accident happened.

Newcomer was pronounced dead at the scene.

There were lengthy traffic delays for a time, but all lanes are now open.

The accident is under investigation.
