Celis Alvarez, Gerald Young charged with dumping trash at Westside Baptist Church in Boynton Beach

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - Two South Florida men have been arrested after Boynton Beach police say that they illegally dumped trash on the property of the Westside Baptist Church.

Officers say that they received a call from a resident who saw a U-haul truck driving down his street and then parking behind the church at 3721 Old Boynton Beach Boulevard.

The witness told police that he saw a man dumping items at the church and then heading to I-95.

The witness and his son, an off duty Sunrise police officer, followed the truck north of Yamato Road where Boynton Beach police stopped the truck.

Officers when they went to the church they found a mound of trash 11 feet wide, 7 feet deep and 3 1/2 feet high.

The trash, according to police, included a piano, televisions, plastic bins, large reflector lights and cardboard boxes.

Celis Alvarez from Broward County and Gerald Young from Miami Dade were arrested and charged with illegal dumping.

Church officials say that illegal dumping at their property is an ongoing problem and items are dumped there at least twice a month which the church has to pay to have removed.
