Carlton Hamilton arrested in Boynton Beach party shooting that wounded one

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. -- A 31-year-old Boynton Beach man was charged with aggravated battery with a firearm on Monday following a shooting at a party on Sunday, according to Boynton Beach Police.

Carlton Leonard Hamilton was identified as the man who shot and wounded Andre Rayan Mohamed, 30, of Lake Park, in a crowd of about 100 people, the arrest report stated.

It happened around 12:30 a.m., when a fight broke out at a party at the Delray Beach PBA Range on the 1000 block of Mission Hill Road, in Boynton Beach.

Mohamed said he tried to get his girlfriend to safety but six men surrounded him, knocked him to the ground and started kicking and punching him. That's when the shot was fired. The victim's girlfriend identified the gunman for police, they said.

Investigators learned Hamilton was the son of the woman who rented the hall for the party and tracked down the green Cadillac SUV seen speeding away from the crime scene. Hamilton was identified from a photo line-up and arrested, police said.

Mohamed was taken to Delray Trauma Center with a bullet wound to his left arm and left side of his chest. He remained in the hospital in stable condition, police said.
