Boynton Beach Publix robbed, gunman grabs nearly $300

A man who was in line to pay for a candy bar at a Boynton Beach Publix pulled out a gun and robbed money from a cash register, according to police.

The incident happened shortly after 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the supermarket located along the 4700 block of North Congress Avenue, according to a Boynton Beach police incident report.

The report said the man approached a cashier with a candy bar and one dollar and then demanded money once she opened the register drawer. When she closed the drawer, he pulled out a silver gun, pointed it at her and then reached over the counter and opened the register himself.

The man grabbed $295.00 in cash and ran out of the store, the report said. He was last seen wearing a black baseball cap, a long-sleeve cobalt blue shirt and black pants.

Police brought in a K9 to help search for the man, but didn't find him.

No one was hurt during the incident, according to police.
