BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - Boynton Beach police arrested a 23-year-old man on Wednesday for allegedly molesting a 12-year-old girl earlier in the day, according to a probable cause affidavit.
Ronald Brutus, of Boynton Beach, was charged with lewd and lascivious molestation and lewd and lascivious exhibition.
According to the affidavit, the victim told police she was walking home from school and stopped by the residence where the incident occurred to say hello to her cousins. She said she was invited to go into the house to play with two 2-year-old children but that once inside Brutus pushed her into a bedroom and locked the door. The girl alleged that Brutus touched her in an inappropriate manner and exposed himself.
The victim said Brutus later let her go and that she ran to a neighbor's home down the street to report what had happened to her.
The report said that Brutus agreed to go to the police department and voluntarily gave a sworn statement. In his statement he disputed the girl's testimony, saying she came to the residence on her own and asked if his girlfriend was home. He claimed the victim walked inside a bedroom and made a head gesture for him to come inside the bedroom with her. He acknowledged, however, that he exposed himself and could not explain how it happened, according to the affidavit.
He is being held at the Palm Beach County Jail.
