Boynton Beach hit-and-run investigation becomes double shooting investigation, leaving one dead

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - What started as an investigation into a hit-and-run in Boynton Beach Saturday morning has become an investigation into a double shooting, leaving one man dead.

Investigators with the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office say a woman was critically injured by a hit and run near the 3800 block of Woolbright Rd around 11:30 Saturday morning.

WItnesses told investigators they saw a car hit the woman, then speed off.

About 15 minutes after responding to that scene, investigators say they found the body of a man inside a dark colored Nissan in a parking lot near Military Trail and Woolbright Road.

Investigators say it appeared the man had been shot. They later found the woman also had a gunshot wound.

The man and woman knew each other, according to the sheriff's office, but officials did not release details of their relationship. Their identities have not been released.

The woman was in critical condition Saturday night at the Delray Medical Center.

Even hours after the crime tape came down Saturday afternoon, regulars of the shopping center were talking about what happened in the parking lot over dinner.

"It's terrible. I don't like violence and I think it could be remediated," said Gail Grossman.

"It's unbelievable. Things like that don't happen around here, we hope," said Elaine Schildkraut.

They say they still enjoy coming to eat and shop in the area, but will have their safety at top of mind.

"I don't think that crime has an hour," Grossman said. "Unfortunately people have guns and that's what guns do. They kill people."

Investigators continue to search for suspect information in both the shootings, and hit-and-run. They say they are also actively trying to find a motive.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office urges anyone with any information to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-458-TIPS.
