Boynton Beach drive-by shooting, traffic crash prompts police investigation

Incidents may be connected to Delray shooting

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - Boynton Beach police officers responded to reports of a shooting, followed moments later by a traffic crash Wednesday night.

Police believe the incident may be in retaliation to a shooting incident in Delray Beach this week.

According to police, officers received information about a possible shooting in the 100 block of N.E. 16th Court around 8:40 p.m.

Police determined that there was a shooting at this location, but no victims came forward to authorities.

Police did find two parked vehicles that had sustained gunshots, but it was determined to be from an earlier, unrelated incident.

Moments later, officers responded to a one-vehicle wreck on 1600 N.E. 4th St.  They determined that three occupants of the vehicle fled following the crash.

Police believe the shooting incident and subsequent wreck to be related.

Interviews gathered from the scene by officers point to this shooting incident being in retaliation to a shooting in Delray Beach that occurred earlier in the week.

Police searched the nearby areas of both incidents, but no suspects were located.
