Baby Emily Rivera goes home from a hospital after premature birth

She was born more than four months early

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - A Boynton Beach police officer's daughter, who was born more than four months early, is going home.

Baby Emily Rivera, nicknamed "miracle baby," came into the world at one pound, three ounces.

She has spent more than three months at Bethesda Hospital East in Boynton Beach growing and gaining weight.

The community rallied around the baby and her parents Marilyn Garcia and Jose Rivera, a Boynton Beach traffic enforcement officer, by turning out to blood donation drives held in and around Boynton Beach.

Friday morning the hospital discharged Emily, but not before her parents thanked the staff at Bethesda for all of their support.
