A Deerfield Beach teen convicted of crashing into and killing a Boca Raton mom will be sentenced Friday.

Wesley Brown was 15 at the time of the crash, he is now 17-years-old.

In February 2017, a jury convicted Brown of vehicular homicide and running from police.

In an attempt to exonerate himself of the crimes, Brown took the stand and admitted to driving what turned out to be a stolen Ford Mustang.

Brown then ran the car through a red light on Palmetto Park Road and slammed into Wendy Harris-Aceves’ Honda Pilot.

Harris, 46, was on her way to get her daughter from a school dance Nov. 1, 2015.

Wesley said he never knew he was driving a stolen car and says he fled from police because his passenger threatened to kill him if he stopped.

Friday's sentencing is scheduled for 1 p.m. The Palm Beach Post reports the public defender will ask for a reduced sentence since he was a minor during the crash. Brown was charged as an adult and faces 25 years in prison.
