Robbery near Boca Raton bus stop causes elderly woman to fall over, break ribs

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputies are asking for the public's help in finding a man who violently robbed a woman and her sister while they were getting onto a bus.

Around 4:30 p.m. Thursday, a 97-year-old woman and her 85-year-old sister were getting on a bus at the Publix shopping center at 9886 Glades Road in Boca Raton, according to a statement released by a sheriff's spokeswoman.

An unidentified man, described as a white male with curly hair who was wearing a black T-shirt and shorts, came from behind the sisters and grabbed one of the their purses.

While grabbing the purse, the man caused both sisters, one who was sitting in a wheel chair, to fall over.

One of the victims was taken to a local hospital after breaking two ribs from the fall, the statement said.

Surveillance footage from the Publix shows the man riding a "Razor" type scooter.
