Officials are investigating rumors of a school shooting Friday at Olympic Heights Community High School in Boca Raton.
The school district told NewsChannel 5 that these are rumors but, as a precaution, there will be extra officers at campus Friday to make students feel at ease.
Olympics Heights Community High School Principal Clark called parents Thursday night with a message about the rumors threatening violence at school.
"School police and our school administrative team have investigated and these rumors and we have determined them to be the result of a misunderstood conversation among students. No real or credible threat exists to our school or students. I wanted to share this info with you this evening before the rumor mill among students escalates," said the message.
