BOCA RATON, Fla. - Boca Raton police say that a man who robbed a jewelry store is now in custody.
Authorities said Nicholas Maida robbed St. Moritz Jewelers, located at 21310 St. Andrews Blvd., around 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 9.
Officers said Maida stole an engagement ring and a tennis bracelet from the store.
Police said that Maida was arrested when Palm Beach County deputies executed a warrant for a home invasion robbery that took place in unincorporated Boca Raton.
Detectives said Maida matched the description of the suspect in the jewelry theft.
When he was questioned about the incident, Maida told detectives, "There is a lot of people who look like me".
A detective said that Maida made the same comment in 2008 when he was arrested in connection with another jewelry theft.
Maida is also facing drug and weapons charges after a separate arrest on Jan. 17.
