A nanny is charged with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol after an 11-month-old in the backseat was injured when she caused a three-car crash, according to Boca Raton Police.

Eylse Tilley was driving south on Dixie Hwy. approaching  Palmetto Park Rd. around 4:45 p.m. on October 10 and was changing lanes when she crashed into another car.

The 11-month-old in the backseat of Tilley’s car had minor bumps on his head from the crash and was taken to West Boca Regional Hospital, officers say. The child’s restraint seat was improperly installed.

Tilley said the child she was watching the child and had taken medication, an arrest report states.

The officer says Tilley was twitching, crying scratching herself, and had a “drunk like behavior.”

Tilley reportedly failed a field sobriety test and the officer arrested her.

During a search of her car, the officer found two prescription pill bottles. One was not in her name and Tilley claimed the medication was her roommate’s. Tilley admitted the other medication belonged to her.

Records show Tilley’s breath test indicated she had not been drinking alcohol and she also gave a urine sample for testing.

Tilley is charged with child neglect, possession of a controlled substance and driving under the influence.

She was released from the Palm Beach County Jail Wednesday on $12,000 bond.
