BOCA RATON, Fla. - A driver has been arrested in connection with a deadly accident last fall that claimed the life of a Hialeah woman.
On September 28, 2013, just after 11 p-m, Palm Beach County sheriff's deputies were called to Palmetto Park Road and Toledo Road for a three car accident.
Investigators say that Mark Schneider was speeding along Palmetto Park Road heading west.
Carol Velasco had stopped at a red light in the westbound lane of Palmetto Park Road.
Deputies say that Schneider was frequently changing lanes behind another westbound driver as they approached Toledo Road.
Schneider, according to PBSO, hit the other driver's car causing him to lose control.
Deputies say that Velasco was entering the intersection when she was struck by Schneider's car causing her to crash into a tree where she lost her life.
Investigators estimate that Schneider was traveling at around 100 mph when the accident occurred.
Schneider's blood alcohol level was over twice the legal limit and he also tested positive for drugs, according to PBSO.
Deputies arrested Schneider and booked him into the Palm Beach County Jail on charges of DUI manslaughter.
