BOCA RATON, Fla. - A trip to the Town Center Mall in Boca Raton ended with a stay at the Palm Beach County jail for a Daytona Beach woman.
Boca Raton Police say that Loniee Hughes met with a man and woman in a Taco Bell in the Daytona Beach area about an offer to set up fraudulent in store credit accounts. The people known only as 'Mike' and 'Sara,' according to Hughes' arrest report, offered her $200 for each account.
Hughes told investigators that the couple drove her to Boca Raton and gave her a fake Georgia driver's license.
Police say that Hughes, using the name 'Sarala Mohta,' was able get an $800 line of credit at Macy's and a $600 credit Sear's Temporary Shopping pass, that has a cash limit of $200.
Hughes tried to get an in store line of credit at Kay's Jewelry, however she got nervous when the clerk took a long time to process the request. Boca Raton Police were called and Hughes was apprehended after fleeing the mall.
Investigators say that she told them that she did not have a job and needed the money that was being offered.
Boca Raton Police charged Loniee Hughes with fraud and drug possession.
