Lightning hits homes in Boca Raton, causes fires

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Lightning strikes kept Boca Raton Fire Rescue crews busy Wednesday afternoon.

The department said lightning caused fires or damage at a home on Cordova Road, on NW 13th Street and on NW 10th Court.

Police were dispatched to the house fire on NW 10th Court and blocked the road while firefighters worked to put out the flames.

The owner heard a loud bang and saw flames spreading through the attic. He grabbed his pets and ran outside to safety.
