BOCA RATON. Fla. - Boca Raton police have arrested two women and charged them with trying to steal clothes from Macy's using a baby stroller.
Lauren Healy and Natalie Baitz, according to an arrest report, were observed by store security at the Macy's at the Town Center Mall selecting multiple pieces of clothing.
Police say the women were seen taking clothing into the fitting room and leaving with nothing in their hands. Store security found seven empty hangers and numerous disabled sensors on the ground, according to the arrest report.
The two women were spotted leaving the store by security without paying for any merchandise, police said.
Police say that when Healy and Baitz were apprehended trying to leave the store they removed three pieces of clothes from Baitz's stroller and four pieces from Healy's handbag.
Baitz told police that she planned to resell the clothes and that she used pliers to remove the sensors.
Healy told police that she can't live on the $130 a week she earns at a pizza restaurant.
