BOCA RATON, Fla. - John Adair has years worth of memorabilia documenting Lake Worth High School's successful football history. He was one of 33 players on the 1942 team that went undefeated.
"We won all 10 games and scored 321 point, our opponents scored 70 points, so we had good defense," said Adair who now lives in Lantana.
He pokes fun at his size, which is what he says kept his football days short and sweet.
"I was a little little guy. At the University of Florida I asked the coaches if I could play guard at 165 pounds, they said no. And I walked out, haha," said Adair.
He is proud his team's legacy at Lake Worth is in the spotlight Friday night. More than 70 years after the program's first perfect season.
It will be a bittersweet moment for him, he'll be thinking of his teammates who have passed on.
"I wish they could be here and enjoy it as much I will," said Adair.
Players from the two other undefeated season 1960 and 1978 will also be honored. As well as surviving coaches and cheerleaders.
