BOCA RATON, Fla. - Police in Boca Raton are looking for a gunman who robbed a jewelry store Saturday in the Royal Palm Place shopping plaza.
At about 6 p.m., investigators said the J. Mark Jewelers, located at 145 Via Naranjas, was robbed by an armed gunman.
The owner, Joel Mark Leibovitch, told officers that he was in the process of closing the store and talking to his girlfriend when a man entered the business.
The thief showed a handgun and directed Leibovitch and his girlfriend to the back of the store.
The suspect then told Leibovitch to open the safes, allowing the gunman to take jewelry and money.
The robber ordered Leibovitch and his girlfriend into a storage closet, and told them to remain there for an hour. After an hour passed, Leibovitch called the police.
No one was injured.
Officers said the suspect spoke Spanish and is described as a Hispanic male, between 5 feet 5 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall, medium build, wearing a grey or green puffy, hooded, rain jacket and sunglasses covering his face.
