Crews spent Friday cleaning up the mess left behind in Boca Raton from Thursday's storm.
At Florida Atlantic University, the school canceled classes after 2 p.m. to assess the damage and keep students and staff safe as another round of severe weather threatened south Florida.
The most damage was done in the library at FAU, where the computer lab was flooded.
"It was pretty intense outside. Not gonna lie. I've been at FAU for three years and that's the first time I've ever seen flooding that bad," said Heather Mark.
Heather was inside the library Thursday night when severe weather hit.
"A lot of thunder, lightning, really dark outside. It was really loud. Heavy rain," she said.
Staff at the library put heavy duty fans throughout the lab area to dry up what's left of the rain waters on Friday.
At Boca Raton City Hall, the scene looked very similar to the FAU library.
The city only offered limited services, while crews worked to fix the damage.
"We had torrential flooding here in Boca, and unfortunately for us in city hall we had a flood," said Chrissy Gibson, communications and marketing manager for the City of Boca Raton.
Chrissy said the building had two inches of standing water across it, and experienced damage on the first and second floors.
"It was a lot of rain in a short period of time," she said.
Meteorologists at NewsChannel 5 say 4-5 inches of rain came down on Boca Raton Thursday night within about an hour.
