BOCA RATON, Fla. - Boca Raton teenager, Brooke Thabit, who was left paralyzed after fracturing her neck a diving accident has just been paired with an assistance dog named Motive
Motive will help Brooke retrieve items, open doors and be a special companion. The dog will train with Brooke once a week to strengthen their bonds and undergo an intensive two week training program before Motive is placed with Brooke for good.
Motive is a 2 1/2 year old Genesis Assistance Dog-in training.
Brooke's family and friends are trying to raise money to build a therapy pool in their backyard.
There is a fundraising fishing tournament June 14 at Pirate's Cove Resort & Marina in Stuart. You can find details on the fundraiser and Brooke's progress by clicking here .
