Boca Raton officers honored for saving baby's life

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Boca Raton police officers are talking about how they came to the rescue of a newborn who was unconscious and not breathing.

The incident happened on May 28.

Police say the event was more traumatic for the baby's family because the young mother had hidden her pregnancy.

Sgt. Sean Flynn and Officer Martin Castellanos arrived and revived the child.

"I picked her up. When I picked her up and squeezed her sides she kinda blinked. When I rubbed her chest she started to cough and spit so we knew she was breathing."

Both officers received a commendation.

The baby was taken to the hospital in good condition.
