The party will go on on Lake Boca.

The Boca Bash will take place Sunday, one week after the downpours of a week ago forced a postponement.

Once a year in April, boaters brace for the big Boca Bash.

“Every year I have gone, I end up rescuing somebody or helping somebody out because everyone is completely out of control,” said Paul Varian, of Boca Raton.

So, Varian and his crew are passing on this year's big day, Sunday, April 30. “Drunk people and boats don't mix,” said Varian. “It's as simple as that.”

Rain forced organizers to postpone the event last Sunday. “Originally, I was so happy it got rained out I was laughing but I guess let them have their fun,” said Varian.

That's what Tyler Haynes, of Boynton Beach, will be up to. “It should be a good time,” said Haynes.

He plans to cruise the Boca Inlet on an inflatable paddleboard but he has one worry, “The biggest thing for me is when people throw their empty bottles out and their empty cans because it is a danger to the fisherman out here,” said Haynes.

Preventing danger is why Boca Raton Councilman Scott Singer says law enforcement will make themselves visible. ”Boca police and Boca fire work extra hard to make sure that everyone is safe, so there will be more people patrolling the lake with the number of visitors we'll have,” explained Singer.

“It's a big community out there and even if you don't know anyone on the boats, they're always willing to let you come on and hang out with everyone and it's a good ole time," Haynes added.

Boca's biggest party on the water will be all day Sunday. It’s free. To join, all you need is to own a boat or know somebody who does.
