POMPANO BEACH, Fla. - Broward County Sheriff's Office deputies say they have arrested the suspect who posed as a UPS delivery man and targeted two women in Pompano Beach.
Broward Sheriff's Office’s Robbery, Fugitive and Crime Scene units, working in conjunction with Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office Robbery and SWAT, executed a warrant at the home of 28-year-old suspect Allen Perez in Boca Raton Monday night.
Deputies say Perez has been linked to an armed robbery incident on February 27th in Pompano Beach through evidence and personal belongings that were left at the scene.
The incident happened in the afternoon hours when a woman answered her door and met with a man claiming to be a UPS delivery man. When the woman went to sign the clipboard, the suspect displayed a handgun and attempted to rob the woman, investigators said.
A quick-thinking neighbor heard the woman screaming and interrupted the robbery but not before the suspect took off with her cell phone. In the scuffle, the suspect left behind two packages at the scene that included duct tape and zip ties.
Perez is currently on probation in Palm Beach County for aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony committed in New York State.
