Tracy Vinson passes Earl Eugley’s home along NE 26th Avenue several times a day.

On Saturday, the 77-year-old’s body was found in the backyard.

“If this was foul play of course that’s scary.  This is a quiet neighborhood and I’ve been here for quite a while," said Vinson.

It’s unclear how long the body was outside before it was discovered. So far the Okeechobee Sheriff’s Office is being very tight lipped about this case, offering no new information Tuesday and only saying this is a suspicious death investigation.

The Medical Examiner's Office confirmed an autopsy had been completed, but their report won't be ready for another 6 to 10 weeks pending other tests.

"Nobody comes down here unless you live down here. Was he in fact murdered? And if that’s the case, why are we not being told anything? asked neighbor Richard Guthrie.

While some said Eugley had confrontations in the past with neighbors, others said he was a very kind man.
Eugley lived part of the year in Maine and while retired, neighbors said he was involved with horses.

“It’s extremely quiet back here.  It’s a safe, family-oriented neighborhood," said Steve Gieseke.

If you know anything, you’re asked to call Detective Marty Faulkner at the Sheriff’s Office at 863-357-5330 or Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-800-273-8477.
