OKEECHOBEE, Fla. - A 20-year-old man, accused of taking an 11-year-old from Okeechobee County to Texas, is facing kidnapping and several other charges.
The Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office began investigating the case on March 22nd when a mother called to report her daughter was missing.
The mother said she found a note on her daughter's bed that claimed that an armed man and woman in a black truck picked up the child, made her pack her clothes, and then took off with her and a friend.
The note also said "help me."
Investigators determined the note was false, but a man identified as Ramiro Valenzuela Delacruz had picked up the child and headed to Texas.
They tracked them down and arrested Delacruz for aggravated kidnapping, lewd or lascivious conduct and interference with custody of parent/guardian.
Delacruz is in the Okeechobee County Jail after being extradited from Texas.
