Okeechobee wildfire spreads to 400 acres

A 400 acre wildfire was burning in Okeechobee County Thursday afternoon. As of 5:15 p.m. it was 25% contained.

It was first discovered by Florida Forest Service Senior Ranger Gibbs who was scouting smoke plumes, according to the Florida Forest Service.

The blaze was in a marshy area and spread into an abandoned orange grove. The fire was approximately 15 miles
northwest of Bassinger.

Bulldozers contained the fire.
