A 51-year-old man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon in Okeechobee County.

According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, at 5:25 p.m. a Mack RD688S was parked on the north shoulder of State Road 70 just west of State Road 710.

A 2002 Dodge Ram was heading west on State Road 70 in the outside lane.

Roderick Gene Nielson of Okeechobee, Fla., was standing in the outside lane of State Road 70, attempting to close the rear door of his Mack truck.

An FHP report said the door of the Mack was swung open and blocking the outside lane.

The Dodge Ram hit the Mack's open door on the right side of the Ram, which also hit and killed Nielson.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
