TEQUESTA, Fla. -- Investigators are looking for the people who allegedly kidnapped a man in Tequesta and dropped him off in a wooded area in Palm Beach Gardens.
Tequesta police said the man was kidnapped around 5 a.m. Wednesday while working with a car service at a vacant home on 574 N. Dover Road.
Police received a call from the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office saying the man was held at gunpoint, stuffed in the trunk of a car and taken to the wooded area.
The man later told police a man and a woman threw him in the trunk of his own car while he was working outside the home.
Once taken to the wooded area, police said the man claimed he was abused and stuffed back into the trunk of the vehicle and the people police are looking for left in a different car.
The victim said he then freed himself from the trunk of the car and went to a nearby house for help.
"Crazy, crazy. I mean you're just not safe anywhere doing anything, and um, that they ended up here is a little bit scary too. We always have a little bit of a situation with the empty lot over here,"said Kay Tennant who lives near where the victim freed himself.
Police have located the victim's car but are looking for the getaway car.
He has been hospitalized with minor injuries.
